Breaking Barriers: Reintegrating Out-of-School Children into Education

The Children of Daniel (TCOD) actively implements a comprehensive program that reintegrates out-of-school children into education by addressing financial and social barriers. Meet Ekene, a bright girl who once had no access to books or learning. She and her parents lived in a small village where children walk miles to fetch water instead of attending school because parents, struggling to make ends meet, could not afford the school fees.

Through TCoD’s Adopt-a-Child Program, she received a scholarship, school supplies, and mentorship. Today, Ekene is not just attending school—she’s excelling, dreaming of becoming a doctor to give back to her community.

Then there’s David (Igbo name Akunna), who was forced to work from a young age instead of getting an education. With support from our non-profit, he is now receiving vocational training and life skills education. Now, David is thriving as an apprentice in a local business, proving that opportunity can change a life.

In a small village (NGOR OKPALA in Imo state Nigeria), where opportunities were scarce, 12-year-old Chizoba had a dream—to go to school, learn, and build a better future for herself and her younger siblings. However, with no school nearby and her parents struggling to afford even basic necessities, education seemed like an impossible dream.

Chizoba spent her days helping her mother sell vegetables at the local market. She watched other children with backpacks walking to school, wishing she could be one of them. But hope came when The Children of Daniel (TCoD) arrived in her community.

TCoD’s team visited her village and identified children like Chizoba who had the potential to learn but lacked access to education. With the support of generous donors and volunteers, Chizoba was enrolled in a nearby school through TCoD’s sponsorship program.

Now, Chizoba dreams of becoming a teacher so she can help other children in her village break the cycle of poverty through education. Because of TCoD, she is not only in school but also inspiring others to believe in the power of learning.
